Built around one stubborn problem<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Mills lose more to inconsistency than to any single recipe. A blend mixed by hand varies with the operator, the weather and the batch of starch that arrived that week. Warp breaks follow, and the loom stops.<\/p>\n

Alpenol was built to take that variance out. We cook the compound ourselves, on native maize starch modified in our own plant, and ship it ready to use. The mill weighs one product instead of four, and the sizing box behaves the same way every shift.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1988, and more than 35 years on, that thinking runs through every grade we make, from heavy denim warps to fine shirting counts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

THE CASE FOR REPLACING PVA<\/p>\n

Cleaner desizing, and a lighter effluent load<\/h2>\n

PVA sizes well and desizes badly. It survives the wash, it loads the effluent, and mills carry the cost at the treatment plant rather than at the sizing box.<\/p>\n

Our compound grades are built on modified maize starch. They desize cleanly, and the water soluble range desizes in hot water at 80 to 90 degrees. The mill keeps the weaving performance and loses the downstream problem.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
