ABOUT ALPENOL
Over 35 years of getting warp sizing right
Alpenol makes compound sizing chemistry for weaving mills. One cooked recipe in place of a blend mixed on the shop floor, so the sizing box behaves the same way on Monday morning as it did on Friday night.

OUR STORY
Built around one stubborn problem
Mills lose more to inconsistency than to any single recipe. A blend mixed by hand varies with the operator, the weather and the batch of starch that arrived that week. Warp breaks follow, and the loom stops.
Alpenol was built to take that variance out. We cook the compound ourselves, on native maize starch modified in our own plant, and ship it ready to use. The mill weighs one product instead of four, and the sizing box behaves the same way every shift.
Founded in 1988, and more than 35 years on, that thinking runs through every grade we make, from heavy denim warps to fine shirting counts.
CAPACITY AND FACILITY

THE CASE FOR REPLACING PVA
Cleaner desizing, and a lighter effluent load
PVA sizes well and desizes badly. It survives the wash, it loads the effluent, and mills carry the cost at the treatment plant rather than at the sizing box.
Our compound grades are built on modified maize starch. They desize cleanly, and the water soluble range desizes in hot water at 80 to 90 degrees. The mill keeps the weaving performance and loses the downstream problem.
FACTORY AND QA
Nothing leaves without a number against it
Every batch is cooked, tested and released against a spec sheet. If a figure sits outside the band, the batch does not ship.
Raw material intake
Every consignment of maize starch is checked before it enters the plant.
Cooking and modification
Modified in our own reactors to a fixed process, not bought in.
In-process testing
Viscosity and solids checked during the run, not only at the end.
Batch release
Held against the spec sheet and released with a certificate of analysis.
